Physics calculators
The calculators your agent uses to compute a film, free for anyone. Each answer comes with its formula, its sources and what to keep in mind.
How much air is there at a height?
Air pressure, density, temperature and oxygen at any height from 500 m below sea level to 85 km up.
At what temperature does water boil up a mountain?
The temperature at which water boils at a height above sea level, or at any air pressure.
At what height does the air pressure fall to a given share of sea level’s?
The height in the standard atmosphere where the air pressure is a chosen share of the pressure at sea level.
How much land floods if the sea rises, or seafloor dries if it falls?
The share of land flooded by a rise in sea level, or of seafloor laid dry by a fall, from ETOPO 2022 terrain.
How much energy does an earthquake release?
The energy an earthquake of a given magnitude radiates, in joules and in tonnes of TNT, and how it compares with another magnitude.
How long is the day at any latitude and tilt?
The hours of daylight at any latitude, on any day of the year, for any axial tilt.
How much sunlight would Earth get closer to or farther from the Sun?
The sunlight, the Sun’s size in the sky, a bare planet’s temperature and the length of the year at any distance from the Sun.
How long does light take to cross a distance?
The time light, or anything moving at a share of its speed, takes to cover a distance.
Films computed from physics
Your coding agent calls these same calculators, so every number in a film is worked out and sourced.
