Connect your agent, sign in, and make your first project folder.
Clipwright is a service your coding agent connects to. Your agent makes the film; you watch it, leave notes and publish. This page gets you connected in about two minutes.
Connect your agent
Add Clipwright to your agent as a remote MCP server. Paste the block for yours.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --scope user --transport http clipwright \
https://mcp.clipwright.studio/mcpThen, in Claude Code, run /mcp, pick clipwright and choose Authenticate. A browser opens to sign in.
Cursor
{
"mcpServers": {
"clipwright": {
"url": "https://mcp.clipwright.studio/mcp"
}
}
}Cursor shows the server as needing a login. Click it, and a browser opens to sign in.
OpenCode
{
"$schema": "https://opencode.ai/config.json",
"mcp": {
"clipwright": { "type": "remote", "url": "https://mcp.clipwright.studio/mcp" }
}
}Then run opencode mcp auth clipwright. A browser opens to sign in.
Codex
codex mcp add clipwright --url https://mcp.clipwright.studio/mcpAdding it starts the sign-in at once; a browser opens.
The first time, your agent opens a browser so you can sign in with Google or an emailed code, and approve it. There is nothing to copy.
Sign in without a browser
On a machine with no browser (a server, a container), make a personal API key in Settings, in the app, and put it in the environment variable CLIPWRIGHT_API_KEY. The agent’s setup reads the variable, so the key never lands in a config file. For Claude Code:
claude mcp add --scope user --transport http clipwright \
https://mcp.clipwright.studio/mcp \
--header 'Authorization: Bearer ${CLIPWRIGHT_API_KEY}'The other three take the same variable:
- Cursor
Add
"headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ${env:CLIPWRIGHT_API_KEY}" }to theclipwrightentry. - OpenCode
Add
"headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer {env:CLIPWRIGHT_API_KEY}" }to theclipwrightentry. - Codex
Add
--bearer-token-env-var CLIPWRIGHT_API_KEYto thecodex mcp addcommand.
| Agent | With a key |
|---|---|
| Cursor | Add "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ${env:CLIPWRIGHT_API_KEY}" } to the clipwright entry. |
| OpenCode | Add "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer {env:CLIPWRIGHT_API_KEY}" } to the clipwright entry. |
| Codex | Add --bearer-token-env-var CLIPWRIGHT_API_KEY to the codex mcp add command. |
The command line
The command line runs with npx, so there is nothing to install first. It needs Node 22 or later.
npx clipwright-studio login
npx clipwright-studio whoami
npx clipwright-studio doctorloginopens a browser and stores a key for this machine. With no browser it prints a link and a code.whoamishows the account, its plan and its GPU credits.doctorchecks Node, the connection, your sign-in and the project, and says how to fix what is missing.
Your first project folder
npx clipwright-studio new air
cd air
npx clipwright-studio devnew makes the folder: film.js, clipwright.json, brief.md, and empty folders for Shorts, elements and voice. dev watches it, syncs every save and prints the checks’ errors and warnings. Leave it running in its own terminal. Your agent edits the files, and you watch the result on the review page.
Next: Making a film.
